Welcome to Saltash Community School
I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to all of you viewing this part on the website. You are likely either prospective families, or have already decided to join us and are looking for more information about your exciting next step. We are thrilled that you have chosen, or are thinking of choosing us to be your school for the next 7 years.
As you will see from my Headteacher’s message on the main page, I am incredibly proud to work at Saltash. We are fortunate to have exemplary staff, supportive families and amazingly talented students. We offer a wide range of opportunities here, and as I always say to every child in our care: if you ‘opt in’ at Saltash, you’ll receive a rich and exciting education that will set you up for a bright future.
I hope you enjoy finding out about our school. We are a welcoming community, so if you would like to see the school ‘in action’ please contact reception, and we will be delighted to show you around! Alternatively, please do come along to our open evening at the start of the year (no booking required) or our open week (please contact reception to book a slot.)
I look forward to seeing you, and welcoming you to TEAM Saltash.
With best wishes
Sara DelGaudio - Headteacher
Supporting Every Child at Saltash Community School
At Saltash Community School, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels valued, supported and able to succeed. As SENCO, my role is to work closely with families, staff and external professionals to make sure that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the right support to flourish both in and out of the classroom.
Our approach is rooted in our TEAM values – Tenacity, Empathy, Aspiration and Motivation. We believe that every child, regardless of their starting point, deserves access to high-quality teaching and opportunities that inspire confidence and independence.
We take time to understand the individual needs of each student, whether they require additional support in lessons, interventions to develop social and emotional skills, or adaptations to ensure they can fully participate in school life. Through strong partnerships with parents and carers, we aim to build a shared plan for success and wellbeing.
Our goal is for every child at Saltash to feel proud of who they are, ambitious for their future, and supported every step of the way. We look forward to working with you to help your child thrive in our inclusive and caring school community.

What I wish I knew in Y6:
✅ “It’s not as scary as you think.”
I thought I’d get lost all the time, but everyone helps you, and you learn where things are quickly.
✅ “The teachers are really kind and want you to do well.”
They understand you’re new and don’t expect you to know everything straight away.
✅ “You don’t have to be with your best friends all the time.”
You’ll make new friends in your classes and clubs too.
✅ “It’s fine to ask questions.”
If you’re not sure where to go or what to do, just ask – older students and teachers are happy to help.
✅ “Getting homework isn’t as bad as it sounds.”
They will start you off gently and help you get into a routine.
✅ “There are so many clubs you can join!”
Try something new – that’s how I made friends.
✅ “Everyone feels nervous at first, even if they don’t show it.”
It’s normal, and you’ll soon feel part of the school.
✅ “The canteen food is actually really good!”
You don’t have to bring a packed lunch if you don’t want to.
✅ “You’ll get used to moving around between lessons.”
It feels strange at first, but soon it’s easy.
✅ “Teachers don’t expect you to be perfect.”
They just want you to try your best.
