Mr Roberts, Innovative Teacher

Mr Roberts at the Innovative Teachers Forum

  Mr Roberts, Assistant Head Teacher has brought in some exciting times for Saltash.net recently. He has been ranked third place in the Innovation in Content category at the fourth Microsoft Corp.’s 2008 Worldwide Innovative Teachers Forum in Hong Kong.

  Mr Roberts' Recharge the Battery project is the study behind his great achievement. Recharge the Battery is a 3 lesson cycle with the objectives of making links between and to understand the advantages and disadvantages of intensive and extensive farming systems. The lessons then go on to discuss the ethical and animal welfare issues related on intensive and extensive farming.

  The lessons were given using Windows Movie Maker and Sound Recorder to create audio and video podcasts on the subject, peer assessment was then used to evaluate and assess the students progress in groups.

  Microsoft Corp.’s Worldwide Innovative Teachers Forum is a very prestigious platform for Mr Roberts to reach and to be representing Saltash.net Community School at such a level is something we are all proud of.
