Our school has an excellent record of attendance, with very little unauthorised absence (truancy). Registers are taken daily at the start of the morning session by tutors. Registers are also taken at the start of each lesson, thus avoiding internal truancy.
Attendance is monitored regularly by the Head or Assistant Head of Year and the Education Welfare Officer. Parents will be contacted where necessary.
Any pupil arriving in school after the close of registration must report to the reception office to record arrival.
Pupils who receive 3 late marks will be placed in an after school detention.
Parents are responsible in law for ensuring that children of compulsory school age receive full-time, suitable education.
Parents do not have a right to take children on holiday in term time. Leave of absence must be requested in advance from the school using a holiday form available from Heads or Assistant Heads of Year. If a holiday is unavoidable in school time leave will be granted up to a maximum of 10 school days in any academic year. Further holiday absence is likely to be recorded as unauthorised absence.
Absence notes should be sent in promptly to school.
